Discovering Web 2.0 # 19

I really liked the Architecture section of the award winning: http://stumbleupon.com/.
and
It had such interesting futuristic photos as these above.
Datafont.com: http://www.dafont.com/ was also fun. There were anti spam, continual maintenance and data recovery sites. Too many downloads to explore.
Many of these sites are commercial or have commercial applications in that they enhance a site to increase visitation and length of visit. Many of these sites have been visited as part of Learning 2.0 and do have applications for library programming and jazzing up the library website. Already the Blogs are being used as a form of communication for LCPL staff. Flicker could be used to add spice to Power Point programs and reports. The sharing and privacy choices as well at the off site storage of Flicker is very useful. Documents that have many authors and one editor such as our procedures book could be created on Zoho Writer. That way several people could contribute and one person edit.
The winners of all categories on 2.0 Web Awards were based on usability, usefulness, social aspects, content quality, interface and design. It was interesting that the winner for the art division was cssbeauty.com. I thought the font on their main page was too light to be easily read. However the linked pages were clear and well organized. It is geared for the web designer and informs them of the latest trends in css/javascript/HTML developments. They also sell kits and books on web design.
